SAFETY PLAN
Please take the necessary time to read through ALL of the following protocols. As we begin the process of re-opening and re-entry, there will be many changes. We anticipate that our “new normal” will continue to shift and change as new directives come out. Please stay up to date on this plan and check back in on occasion to see what is new.
There are 3 sections to this plan - containment, cleaning/sanitation, operations. Please know that all of the following protocols will work best if we all chip in and make them possible. You have shown us the incredible strength of the MBC community over the last couple of months and we will need your continued support to make all the following possible. As always, please reach out to us should you have any questions!
1. Containment
Limited Class Size + Social Distancing - We will be limiting the number of people in the gym at all times and group class sizes will be reduced to 6 clients. This allows for the state required 50 square feet per class member plus the 6 feet of social distancing between. We will have personal spaces mapped out on the gym floor and expect clients to stay in their outlined space throughout the training session. We encourage clients to bring their own personal equipment (gloves, hand wraps, etc.) as shared equipment will be extremely limited. We ask that you be conscious of your surroundings and maintain social distancing at all times.
Focus Mitts + Sparring - Per directives from USA Boxing and in accordance with state mandate, social distancing requires that training such as focus mitt work and sparring is prohibited for the time being. When USA Boxing gives us the green light, we will proceed cautiously with re-introducing these training techniques. We ask for your patience while we await further instruction from the USA Boxing National Office.
Health Assessments - We will take daily temperatures of coaches and staff. We expect our community to do the same and ask that you stay home if you have a fever OR have flu-like symptoms of any kind or severity. If you come to the gym looking ill, we will kindly ask you to go home. The safety of our community is much more important than any workout.
Virtual Offerings - We will continue to offer virtual classes and encourage members and clients to continue using this resource as much as you like. If scheduling changes occur, we will give you ample notice of the change. We project that some sort of virtual training will continue to be available for the foreseeable future.
Gathering Spaces - In order to maintain social distancing in all spaces, we will implement a ‘one way traffic flow’ as clients enter and exit the boxing club space. Upon arrival, clients will enter the boxing club via the front lobby and adjoining hallway. We ask that you enter one at a time and not congregate in the entry. If you need to change shoes or wrap hands, please do so at your assigned bag/space. As class ends, we have clients leave through the garage door exit one at a time. We recommend arriving with an already filled water bottle to avoid using the drinking fountain. Restrooms will be open, but again we ask that you limit usage. Please bring your own towel. Once class is over, the gym will need to be shut down immediately to allow for disinfecting and cleaning of all equipment, floors, and handles. You are more than welcome to use the parking lot to cool down as long as social distancing is followed. We also ask that people not gather in the lobby space and hallways as those are also shared with other businesses.
No Shared Equipment - We ask that members bring their own gloves and hand wraps to class. If you do not have your own hand wraps you can buy them at the gym for $10/pair. We can also make a recommendation for where to get an inexpensive (but decent) pair of gloves to use. We will have gloves available for use as a last resort, but they are challenging to clean and disinfect so they will only be available on a very limited basis. You will have your own workout space for class and we ask that you do not rotate bags during class. Likewise, any other equipment used during class is not to be shared with another client.
Face Masks - At this time, face masks will not be required. However, we do ask that you wear them when you arrive at the gym and until you find your space for class. Coaches plan to wear them, but they are optional for clients at this time. You are encouraged to do what is best for you.
Personal Items - We ask that you please leave any personal items (i.e. jackets, bags, etc.) in your car. If you feel the need to bring anything other than your equipment into the gym with you, we ask that you keep it with you and not leave it in community spaces. We also request that you not leave any shoes or personal items in the gym overnight. We encourage you to bring your own towel, filled water bottle, and yoga mat if you like.
2. Cleaning/Sanitation
Cleaning Protocols - The entire building is well-stocked with cleaning and disinfecting supplies. All equipment will be disinfected between classes along with frequently used surfaces. We will mop the gym floor between classes, but we recommend bringing your own yoga or ab mat. The bathrooms will be cleaned daily, though we recommend you use them as infrequently as possible. We will be performing another deep clean on Tuesday before re-opening. There will be wipes available if you prefer to wipe down any surfaces before use and we ask that you also wipe down bags/equipment after use.
Equipment - As stated above, we ask that you bring your own gloves and hand wraps to class with you. We realize that you will also use equipment from the gym and ask that as class ends, you wipe down your equipment and leave it in place so that your coach can collect it, sanitize it and set it aside for the next use. Seeing as how classes are separated throughout the day we don’t foresee any issues with two people using the same piece of equipment immediately after one another. Again, there will be no sharing of equipment during classes.
Hard-to-Clean Equipment - When you come back to the gym, you will notice that several things will have been put away temporarily. Equipment such as mats, foam rollers, tennis/lacrosse balls will be out of circulation for the time being as it is difficult to appropriately clean and disinfect quickly. Additionally, gym towels will not be available for the time being. Please feel free to bring your own if you wish to use them!
3. Operations
Small Classes - We understand that limiting class sizes may make it more challenging for you all to get your gym time. We ask that everyone be patient and work together, as we have been over the last few months, as we adjust to this new normal. We will open classes up slowly and continue hosting outdoor sessions and will do our best to accommodate the availability of our clients. That said, we will likely have several schedule changes after the first 2-3 weeks. Please understand that your safety is our primary concern and small class sizes are the answer for now.
Mandatory Pre-Registration - With small class sizes and likely a high demand for spots in certain classes, it is important that you register AND cancel early. Please do not show up for a class unless you have a reserved spot. If you are unsure of how to register in advance - reach out! We will help you navigate the registration process so that you can get your name on the list early. Please also be mindful of others and early cancel (at least 12 hours in advance). We anticipate there may be wait lists for classes and we aim to get as many clients in each day as possible. Be sure to check your spam folder as you will receive an auto-email from MindBody if you get a wait-listed spot. If we need to cancel outdoor classes due to weather, we will notify you with an email or text.
Late Cancel Policy - Also due to limited class size, we will be enforcing our late cancel policy. If clients reserve a spot and cancel less than 12 hours before class start, or if a client no-shows, they will be charged accordingly. 6-pack and unlimited members will be charged an additional $10 and class package holders will lose the class on their package.
Open Gym - In a further effort to limit the number of people in the gym at any given time, we are also asking that open gym members pre-register for the time they wish to train in the gym. Open gym will be listed on the schedule in 1-hour increments and will be limited to 4 people per hour. We want you to use the gym! We also ask that open gym members follow the same protocols for entering/exiting the gym as class participants and abide by social distancing. Once you have finished your workout, we ask that you wipe down any equipment and surfaces you have touched and leave through the garage exit. Please feel free to use the parking lot if you need to cool down.
Office Operations - In another effort to limit contact, we ask that all payments and purchases be managed over the phone or online. In addition, our entry area will simply be used as an entrance to pass through to get to your designated workout space. As stated above, please do not leave items in the entry area. Take them with you as you will be exiting from a different door.
