Fall Boxing Invitational

Mark your calendars… We are hosting our FIRST boxing show! We cannot wait for this Saturday, September 16th, and we hope you join us!

We are showcasing boxers from MN and WI (many from our club!) and they would all love the support from the community as they step into the ring. Come out for an afternoon of great amateur boxing. We can’t wait to see you there!

Doors open at 1pm. First bell at 2pm. $10 general admission.

MBC Holiday Bingo

In a season that can be so overwhelming, take some time for a little self-love, mindfulness, gratitude, and intention.

The Minneapolis Boxing Club Bingo Challenge begins Sunday, November 27th with the kick-off of our NEW, weekly yoga class. The challenge will continue through the holidays. Bingo cards can be saved and recorded digitally, or as a hard copy. We will have printed cards available at the gym starting on Monday, November 28th, and a digital copy of the card can be found and downloaded below. There are two different versions - please select only one! If you need clarification on any of the squares, see the poster below!

Once you have your card, start marking off spaces. There will be prizes for indivdiual bingos and for full card blackout. If you want to have a hard copy of your card, grab one at the gym, put your name on it, and post it on the wall. We’ll have bingo stampers available for you to mark your spaces daily. The challenge will continue through Saturday, December 31. Bingo cards can be handed in at the gym starting on Sunday, January 1st, 2023!

Prizes include:

  • Minneapolis Boxing Club swag (HINT: New merchandise is coming!)

Champ Camp 2022

It’s that time again… Champ Camp is coming back for another season, and I can't wait to get started!! We will be back at Armatage Park starting in June, and I am looking forward to our best year yet!

The full program this summer will include 29 sessions to take place over 12 weeks. Our workouts will be varied, and will increase in intensity as we work through the summer. We will work hard and have fun! 

The first two weeks of the program will be traditional bootcamp style - 5 days on, 2 days off, repeat. Then we will shift to 2x/week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Our first session will take place on Monday, June 13th and the last session of the summer will take place on Thursday, September 1st. Specific dates and pricing are listed below. 

Dates/Times:

  • June 13-17 & 20-24 / Monday-Friday / 6am

  • June 28-September 1 / Tuesday & Thursday / 6am

  • There will be NO training session on Tuesday, July 5th.

Pricing:

  • $550 for full program (29 sessions over 12 weeks)

OR

  • $220 for first two weeks (June 13-24)

  • $380 for follow-up 10 weeks (June 28-September 1)

Hop To It - April Jump Rope Challenge

Build your endurance, improve your footwork, and learn some new skills by participating in this month’s jump rope challenge! Challenge begins on Monday, April 4th.

What is the goal? The goal is to practice 5 days/week for 10 minutes per day (must be done all at once). For each completed session, you can mark off one square of your challenge bingo card. Cards will be collected on April 30th and entered into a drawing for prizes. Completed cards are worth 20 points. For additional points post on social media platforms using the hashtag: #hoptoitchallenge and remember to tag @minneapolisboxingclub. For each social post, you’ll receive an additional point for the drawing (maximum 20 points for social). See video below for info!

How to start: Pick up a challenge bingo card at the gym, write your name on it and post it on the entry wall (for a printable version click here). For each session completed mark off a square of your card. Then, hop to it!

We will post tutorial videos and inspiration on our Facebook and Instagram pages multiple days each week. Follow along on social, and post your progress for additional opportunities to win.

Prizes will include: FREE month of unlimited membership, 60’ private training session with Heidi, Dope Ropes jump rope + MBC swag

Champ Camp 2021

Restrictions around COVID-19 have been relaxed quite a bit since last summer. However, we will continue to be mindful of safety and take care of each other in the following ways:

  • Whenever possible, we will avoid sharing equipment. Some workouts may require you to bring equipment from home. I will send more details on this as we get closer to our start date with specifics, and a few ideas for things you can find in your home that are easy substitutes if you don’t have access to dumbbells or kettlebells.

  • I love a good partner workout, and they will be programmed in a mindful way so that you can maintain distance from each other at all times. 

  • If you are experiencing any symptoms or are ill, I ask that you take the day off and make sure you are symptom-free before coming back to group sessions. 

  • Masks are not required for outdoor events, however I will wear a mask while coaching in close proximity and I encourage you all to do the same if you wish.

  • June 14-18 & 21-25 / Monday-Friday / 6am

  • June 29-September 2 / Tuesday & Thursday / 6am

Pricing:

  • $500 for full program (30 sessions over 12 weeks)

Sparring Classes Begin April 17th!

Sparring class is LIVE on the schedule! These sessions must be purchased in addition to a current membership or 10/20-class package. No drop-ins allowed!

In order to participate, you must have a coach’s approval. Space is limited to 4 athletes per class and all athletes MUST have a current athlete registration with USA Boxing. For more details on how to obtain your USA Passbook, click here. Once your passbook is received by Heidi or Joe, your name will go on the sparring list (posted on the bulletin board at the front entry). Until your name is on that list you are uneligible to participate.

Athletes must provide their own equipment - including 16 ounce sparring gloves, headgear, foul protectors (optional for women), and mouthguard. Please come prepared and take time to warm up before class begins.

It's BAAAACK!!! Champ Camp is just around the corner and I can't wait! Due to COVID-19, there are a few things that will look a little different this year (see below). However, we have spoken to the administration and Armatage Park has given us a green light to proceed for the summer. I am so excited that we can continue calling this park home for another round of Champ Camp!

The full program will include 30 sessions to take place over 12 weeks. Our workouts will range from interval and circuit training to body weight strength training, and cardiovascular conditioning - all the stuff you've come to know and love from workouts with me. We will work hard. And we will, as always, have fun! 

The first two weeks of the program will be traditional bootcamp style - 5 days on, 2 days off, repeat. After this initial push, we will shift to twice weekly workouts to happen on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The first two weeks begin on Monday, June 15 and the last session of the summer will take place on Thursday, September 3 - the Thursday before Labor Day. Specific dates and pricing are listed below. Because of restrictions related to COVID-19, we will train slightly differently this summer. Here are some of the things we are doing to make this experience safe for everyone:

  • We will use green space, parking lot and sidewalks, but will steer clear of the playground and skate park. 

  • We will not use any shared equipment. I encourage you to bring a mat or towel each time you train. Some workouts will require you to bring equipment from home. I know we don’t all have dumbbells and kettlebells at home, so no worries! I will send you more details as we get closer to our start date about how you can find things in your home that are easy to bring with you. 

  • We will adhere to social distancing guidelines and distinct spaces will be marked for each of you to work in each day.

  • The group will be limited to 24 people (25 including your coach). 

  • Coaches will wear a mask and encourage you all to do the same if you wish.

Dates & Times:

June 15-19 & 22-26 / Monday-Friday / 6am

June 30-September 3 / Tuesday & Thursday / 6am

Pricing:

$500 for full program (30 sessions over 12 weeks)

OR

$200 for first two weeks (June 15-26)

$350 for follow-up 10 weeks (June 30-September 3)

It's BAAAACK!!! Champ Camp is coming back to Armatage Park in South Minneapolis this summer and we can't wait to get back outside with you!


Training sessions will include HIIT and circuit training, bodyweight strength training, and cardiovascular conditioning - all the stuff we love. ;) We will work hard. And we will, as always, have fun! 

Champ Camp will meet Monday-Friday for the last week of June to do one week of daily workouts to jump start our program. Then, we'll continue with two workouts per week (Tuesdays & Thursdays) through Labor Day to keep your momentum going! Here are all the nitty-gritty details:

New Mama Group

I am looking for a group of 5 new moms with babes 0-6 months to join me in a new mom's group. Being a new mom is wonderful and stretches our limits. It is also an important time to build a community for support. This group will be an opportunity for us to support each other, build community and move our bodies together. Workouts will be simple, effective, and totally baby friendly! We will gather weekly on Monday mornings for 8 weeks. Each meet-up will begin with a 50 minute workout and then we can move to the garden space we have available upstairs in the gym building for coffee, cuddles and a chat.

Who: Moms and Babies! Space is limited to 5 new moms with infants 0-6 months

When: Mondays from 10am-11:30am

Where: Minneapolis Boxing Club

What: 50-minute workout followed by mom and baby social time

Cost: $160 for 8 sessions

Women's Self Defense Seminar

Minneapolis Boxing Club is partnering with Zaro Snyder to host our first, women’s only, self-defense seminar to help empower our community to feel confident and safe in their everyday lives.

Zaro has over 20 years of experience in both practicing and coaching martial arts and self-defense. He has hosted many self-defense programs in the past and is eager to offer this to our community in an effort to make people feel confident and empowered. The class will run for 90 minutes and is only $25! Sign up early as spots are limited!

The seminar will cover:
-Basic strikes proven to be effective
-Grab defenses that will work on any attacker
-Ground defenses and how to escape an attacker
-Confidence!
