Introducing… The Champ Camp Summer Games
Two special events (three including Champ Camp) are happening this summer. The 2024 Summer Olympic Games are set to happen in Paris at the end of July. Aaaand, in early June, coaches Heidi and Joe will welcome their third child!
While Heidi will be on maternity leave during our typical schedule, we are leaning into the challenge, and changing things up this time around. We hope you’ll consider joining us for this special edition of Champ Camp! Keep reading for the full run-down.
As usual, Camp will happen in two stages:
STAGE 1: SUMMER PREP
While it is so hard to imagine not spending the entire summer with you all, I will be home adjusting to life as a mom of THREE! Our newest addition is set to arrive the first week of June, so for the first two months of summer I will be recovering and spending time with our new baby and growing family.
We typically begin with two weeks of 5 workouts/week, and continue the summer with 2 workouts/week through Labor Day. This year, we’ll flip that schedule in preparation for a two-week blowout at the end of August.
Beginning June 18th and running through August 15th we will hold the following classes and opportunities to work out together and prepare for our summer games:
6AM on Tuesdays @ Minneapolis Boxing Club
Our 6am class at the gym on Tuesday mornings will feature a stronger strength/conditioning component than usual. This will still be a boxing class, though you are not required to have prior boxing experience to attend. It will lean heavily toward bootcamp style workouts, with some boxing woven throughout. The goal here is to give participants an opportunity to join a class at our usual time, meet some gym regulars, get in a solid workout, and challenge both our boxing students, as well as our Champ Camp crew to try something a little different.
I will coach a sample session on Tuesday, June 4th - it will be free to attend so that everyone can get a feel for what these sessions will be like.
6AM on Thursdays @ Armatage Park
Thursday mornings will be a “Captain’s Practice” held at Armatage Park in South Minneapolis. Your Captains are people who have participated in the past, and they will be responsible for talking everyone through the day’s workout. These will all be workouts written by me and provided to your Captains. This is an opportunity for community and team building throughout the summer, to get in some extra work at Armatage before our end of summer games, and to inspire you to be accountable to yourself and each other for a few weeks before I join you!
9:30AM on Sundays @ Minneapolis Boxing Club
YOGA! We are going to keep yoga running through the summer weeks to give you all an additional opportunity for gathering together. It was a popular and successful addition to Camp last year, and I am so glad that so many of you took advantage of attending that class on and off throughout Champ Camp. It will remain on the schedule during the summer.
STAGE 2: CHAMP CAMP SUMMER GAMES
Week 1: August 19-23
Prep and prelims - These workouts will prepare you for next week when we pull out all the stops for 5 days of individual, partner, and team competitions. You will work hard in each session, and you will get a chance for recovery/mobility as part of every workout.
We will prepare for things like running/turning/moving on grass, moving around obstacles, jumping, lifting heavy-ish things. If you have weights at home, please bring them. We always work with what you’ve got!
Each workout will include a dynamic warmup, a strong component of strength and/or conditioning, and a cool down to set you up for success tomorrow.
Week 2: August 25-30
Here we go! In honor of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, we are diving into a full week of individual, partner, and team competitions.
Each workout will include a dynamic warm up, explanation of games and rules for the day, and then “go time”! There will be glimpses of some familiar favorites, though alumni can expect something new and super fresh for the whole week!
We are working on a special recovery option for you during these final weeks - stay tuned for more details!

The full program this summer consists of up to 37 sessions which will take place over 11 weeks. Pricing is as follows:
